2009 Activities and Schedule has been updated.
Camping Registration begins JULY 13, 2009, through our website and by phone.
Bring the family and come on out for a weekend of free camping, outdoor activities, meals, and fun!
Whether you camp for free Friday & Saturday nights or just come out for the activities Saturday and Sunday, plan to have some great outdoor, family fun at the annual Outdoor Kansas for Kids Coffey County event. Not only are the camping and activities free but three, free meals are included for participants (Saturday lunch & dinner, and Sunday breakfast).
John Redmond Reservoir's Riverside West campgrounds is transformed into activity stations that explore a variety of outdoor activities like archery, crafts, canoeing, rock wall climbing, and more. Click here to activities planned for 2009.
Saturday's events begin with a Catch & Release Fishing Tourney at New Strawn's City Lake then free lunch at the campgrounds. Ongoing and scheduled activities start at 12:30 and run to 9:00 pm on Saturday. The event winds down with a breakfast Sunday morning. Click here to see the tentative 2009 schedule.
Shuttle service will be provided throughout the day Saturday from the Day Parking Area (main entrance) to all events in the campgrounds. A shuttle is provided for the Trap Shoot activity that takes place at the John Redmond Trapshoot Park.

CHANGES FOR 2009
Even though the recreation.gov site notes that pets are allowed in Riverside West Campgrounds, for safety reasons, pets will be restricted to campsites on a leash only, during the event.
For additional safety reasons only two vehicles per campsite and, NO VEHICLE TRAFFIC other than shuttles, event coordinators, and emergency vehicles will be allowed in the campgrounds during the 2009 event. Campers are free to park a vehicle in the Day Parking Area and ride the shuttle to and from there.

WRISTBANDS
Kids participating in the OK Kids Coffey County activities must be wearing an intact wristband to ride the shuttle unaccompanied by a parent or guardian. Wristbands will be distributed at the main gate during the event, along with participant tee-shirts and other goodies.
